Tahun 2007, jalan gejayan berubah nama menjadi jalan Afandi. Berat juga rasanya meninggalkan nama yang sudah terkenang dan membawa banyak kenangan. Jalan ini bisa dikatakan sebagai jalan mahasiswa. UGM, UNY, Sadar (kampus mrican), dan Atmajaya (kampus mrican) berada dekat dengan jalan ini. Gejayan merupakan jalan dua arah yang relatif lebar dan dibagi dua ruas. Jalan ini merupakan sentra pedagang handphone. Berpuluh - puluh pedagang handphone berderet dengan kios yang bervariasi ukurannya. Selain handphone, banyak pula terdapat butik, kafe, dan berbagai usaha yang berkaitan dengan mahasiswa seperti toko komputer, fotokopy, dan sebagainya.
Ujung bagian selatan merupakan perempatan dimana bertemu jalan Laksda Adisucipto, Urip Sumohardjo, dan jalan Munggur. Selain terdapat pasar, yaitu pasar demangan, bagian selatan jalan ini didominasi oleh pedagang elektronik.
